Reed ceiling. Also sudarebari tenjō 簾張天井. A ceiling covered in a mesh made from solid stems of bamboo kanchiku 寒竹, black bamboo hachiku 淡竹, the horsetail plant tokusa 木賊, ditch reed yoshi 葭 or bush clover hagi 萩. These very slender stems are bound or plaited together with cord. Used in tearooms, particularly those of the rustic *sōan 草庵 style.
