Reed ceiling. Also sudarebari tenjō 簾張天井. A ceiling covered in a mesh made from solid stems of bamboo kanchiku 寒竹, black bamboo hachiku 淡竹, the horsetail plant tokusa 木賊, ditch reed yoshi 葭, or bush clover hagi 萩. These very slender stems are bound or plaited together with cord. Used in tearooms, particularly those of the rustic *sōan 草庵 style.
