A door frame covered on both sides with boards or panels. The inside of the door, like a drum taiko 太鼓, is empty. If the framework of a door contains larger than average strengthening devices chikarabone 力骨, and both sides are covered with either panel boards or paper, the door is called taikobame 太鼓羽目 or taikobari 太鼓張. The same construction technique is used for room partitions such as *fusuma 襖. When the entire frame is covered, it is called taiko fusuma 太鼓襖 or *taikobari fusuma 太鼓張襖.
