A long-sheet size of *hōsho 奉書 paper. Approximately 53 x 72 cm. The largest sheet of paper used for a *ukiyo-e 浮世絵 print. A full sheet (see *ōōban 大々判) was used for *uki-e 浮絵 (perspective prints). A horizontally cut sheet was used for habahiro hashira-e 幅広柱絵 (wide pillar print, see *hashira-e 柱絵) painted in the *beni-e 紅絵 and benizuri-e 紅摺絵 styles since 1730s, as well as for hashira-e (pillar prints), and for full-color woodblock prints *nishiki-e 錦絵 after 1764. A vertically cut, 1/3 sheet of takenaga bōsho was called chōōban 長大判 (see *chōban 長判) and used in beni-e.
