A single corridor that is 182 cm wide, commonly found in temples. Some shrines have double corridors *fukurō 複廊 that are 264 cm wide, double the width of single corridors. But no extant temples have double corridors. The outer part of a single corridor in a temple, for example the corridor at Hōryūji Saiin 法隆寺西院 in Nara, is semi-enclosed and has a partial wall from the floor to about half the full height of the corridor. Above this are pillars *hashira 柱 with set openings filled with vertically placed, nearly square slats. These windows are called *renjimado 連子窓. The inner side is open and is supported by roof pillars only, set at regular intervals.
