Also read ritchūshiki. A ceremony performed when the main post, tate-bashira, of a building is erected. Paper strips, called gohei 御幣, are put on top of the post, which is the first structural member to be set in place. It may also be called tatezome-bashira 立初柱, *daikoku-bashira 大黒柱 or imi-bashira 忌柱 (斎柱).
