A type of worship hall *haiden 拝殿 which is attached to the main sanctuary *honden 本殿, and also serves as a passageway to the honden. The Edo period haiden at Owari Ōkunitama Jinja 尾張大国霊神社 in Aichi Prefecture, is considered a tatehaiden. It is 5 x 3 bays, with the central bay wider than the side bays, and has a gable roof *kirizuma yane 切妻屋根 covered with cypress bark. The entrance is on the gable end. The ridge is at a right angle to the honden's ridge and follows the central axis of the building's configuration. The Ōkunitama Tatehaiden is attached to the honden and may serve as both an offering hall *heiden 幣殿 and a worship hall.
