Also called tatedōzan 竪胴桟. Vertical lath used for a door or window frame. Lath called san 桟 can be set vertically, horizontally or crisscrossed between the stiles tategamachi 竪框 of a door or window frame. Vertical lath is called tatezan and horizontal lath called *yokozan 横桟. Some frames have only horizontal lath, others have only vertical lath while others have lath set at right angles. There is infinite variety of lath arrangement.
Also called nakatategamachi 中竪框, tateko 竪子 or 縦子. The middle, vertical muntins set parallel to the vertical border stiles tategamachi in doors, windows, transoms, etc.
