A Noh mask *nōmen 能面 of the *ayakashi 怪士 variety. Its large bulging eyes, upswept eyebrows and broad hanging cheeks give it a fearsome aspect. The bared teeth show white and gold. A special mask of the Kita 喜多 school, it is used like *mikazuki 三日月 masks for strong gods, such as the Strong Armed God in Ema 絵馬 and for the ghosts of warriors bent on revenge.
