Measurement
Also tōdaishaku 唐大尺 or tenpyōshaku 天平尺. An ancient unit of measure, approximately 29.6 cm. Renamed *shōshaku 小尺 in the Taihōryō 大宝令 codes of 701. However, shōshaku was then scaled down to 25.25 cm in 713, and the original 29.6 cm tōjaku was known as *taishaku 大尺. This measurement was slightly shorter than the *kanejaku 曲尺, which later became the standard measure of length.
