Castles
1 A fortification built as a staging camp from which to attack an enemy's castle. It is usually small in scale, with only one or two enclosures, and often with an earthen embankment and a moat. Also called a confronting castle *tai-no-shiro 対の城, or a facing castle mukaijiro 向城.
2 A branch castle or fortification *shijō 支城 separate from the main castle and built at strategic locations within the domain and along its borders.
