Also tsurido, 釣戸 or 吊戸. A door or window that is hinged along the top. It swings out from the bottom, and is held open by a prop, tsukiagezao 突上竿, or pole. One example is a sudomon 簀戸門, a rustic gate in the garden of a tea ceremony house *chashitsu 茶室. When the door is closed, it fits perfectly into the door frame and hangs exactly perpendicular to ground.
If a large wooden shutter in a merchant's shop is raised and propped open or held by a hook tsurikanamono 吊金物, it is called makuriagedo 捲上戸.
Tsukiagedo may also refer to a trapdoor that opens into an attic.
