Rafters *taruki 垂木 that extend from the flying rafter support *kioi 木負 on the main roof of a temple or shrine building, over the step canopy *kōhai 向拝. They are supported by the eave purlin nokigeta 軒桁 (*gagyō 丸桁), and their ends are placed on top of the kōhai pillars. Eave supports *kayaoi 茅負 are again set over the outer ends of the uchikoshi daruki, and flying rafters *hien daruki 飛檐垂木 are added. An eave support is placed on top of the flying rafters to carry the tile seat.
