1 An abstract decorative pattern of extended curved lines based on the form of a leaf. The pattern is carved on nosings *kibana 木鼻, rainbow beams *kōryō 虹梁, and frog-leg struts *kaerumata 蟇股. The tips of the leaf strands are called tsuyusaki 露先. There are many variations including *uzuwakaba 渦若葉.

2 A shape used for moldings *kurigata 繰形 on the edge of a desk or shelf *fudegaeshi 筆返し.
