Commonly double-penetrating, diagonally placed beams that connect the main post *honbashira 本柱 and a secondary post sanebashira 実柱, to which the thick, heavy door of a storehouse *dozō 土蔵 is attached. Yaguranuki also are used to brace the corners of eave purlins *gagyō 丸桁. When yaguranuki are not doubled, corner braces hiuchinuki 火打貫 of about 12 cm by 16 cm, usually made of pine, are used to tighten and strengthen them.
