U-shaped metal pieces nailed to a gate, allowing it to be locked with a sliding timber gate-bar *kannuki 閂. A file used to sharpen the blade of a steel saw. Each tooth is filled one by one. The yasuri is similar to a whetstone *to-ishi 砥石, with increasingly finer tools being used as construction progresses. The first filing is done with a rough-edged file surikomi yasuri 摩込鑢, and then a fine-toothed file called shiage yasuri 仕上鑢 is used. To sharpen a blade with top-beveled teeth like the crosscut saw *yokobikinoko 横挽鋸, a special file known as an uwame yasuri 上目鑢 is used.
