A type of decorated beam *kibana 木鼻 which is a simplified version of Japanese monk's hoods torikabuto 鳥兜. Yatsushi 省 means abbreviation. Likewise, yatsushi zōbana 省象鼻 and yatsushi hōō 省鳳凰 are simplified versions of the elephant shaped *zōbana 象鼻, which is a kind of kibana, and the mythical bird *hōō 鳳凰 respectively.
