Also yodogi 淀木 or yodonuki 淀貫. Tapered horizontal timber, 12-15 cm wide and 4.5 cm thick, placed on top of a wide lath *hirokomai 広小舞 that runs along the ends of base rafters *keshō daruki 化粧垂木. It takes the place of an eaves support *kayaoi 茅負, and thickens the eave ends, making it easier to lay the tile roof *kawarayane 瓦屋根. If timbers attached to yodo run parallel to the rafters, they are called ascending lath noboriyodo 登淀.
