Also hikigi 引木 Lit. "horizontal timber." Although the term yokogi can refer to any horizontal timber, it is often used specifically for a strip of wood set horizontally beneath the partial wall erected between the middle post *nakabashira 中柱 and the wall of a tea ceremony room *chashitsu 茶室. It serves as both a support and finishing strip for the wall above the opening. The yokogi is approximately 66-68cm above floor level. When this same member is made of bamboo, it is called *hikidake 引竹.
