Lit. "wing corridors." A corridor that extends outward from the side or rear of a building. Examples: Byōdōin *Hōōdō 平等院鳳凰堂 (1053) has wing corridors on both sides, and is therefore called ryōyokurō 両翼廊 in Kyoto. Mōtsūji 毛越寺 (12th century) in Iwate Prefecture had a wing corridor, but is no longer extant.
