Amiens Cathedral (Ascent)

Upper choir, south side, angle with south transept

Here you see the choir clerestory windows with their triple lancets topped by trefoils built by Renaud de Cormont in the 1260s and below the glazed triforium, repaired at the same time. The upright to our right supports flyers against the upper choir and upper transept, delivering its burden upon the slender pier below. The flying buttress against the upper choir, originally built by Master Renaud, was demolished and rebuilt c.1500 by Pierre Tarisel who inserted an additional flyer below
