Upper choir, south side, exterior of the triforium of the westernmost bay
The choir triforium embodies simple prismatic (chamfered) forms--the capitals and moldings of the earlier work have been abandoned, probably because they were too expensive. All along the south flank of the choir into the hemicyle the exterior skin of the triforium has been replaced: the original work may have been damaged in the 1258 fire and new elements have been grafted in.
