From the north: the former flood plain of the River Somme

The physical map shows the flood plain of the river Somme, now the Parc Saint-Pierre. Just to the south of the river is an elevated gravel terrace above flood level. The Roman city was established atop that terrace in the last decades BC. The first cathedral was established to the north-east of the Roman city.
