The grouping of two or three parallel rafters placed closely together with a wide space between each group. The spaces between square rafters is equal to the width of one rafter. Usually, the space between a pair of rafters in equal to double the space between the two rafters forming a pair. If the rafters form a group alternating with a pair of rafters, the space between a group of three and a pair is about equal to the width of the pair of rafters. Fukiyosewari 吹寄割 are rafters grouped to omit every third rafter from a set of closely aligned rafters, *shigedaruki 繁垂木, so that there is a wide space between the remaining pairs.
