Lit. split reed. A style of round-stone paving *tama-ishijiki 玉石敷 of the *arare koboshi 霰零し type. The joints between the stones are made avoiding right angles or repetition. This paving style derives its name from its complexity, which is said to be as difficult as making one's way through a ditch choked with reeds. It is frequently used in *sōan 草庵 style gardens.
