baiban 倍判

Lit. double format. A size of *ukiyo-e 浮世絵 print used for full-color woodblock prints *nishiki-e 錦絵 after 1764. Commonly encountered baiban formats include:

1　Ōbaiban 大倍判. Also called baiōban 倍大判. Double the size of the *ōban 大判, or the full size of an *ōbōsho 大奉書 sheet. Approximately 39 x 53cm.

2　Aibaiban 間倍判. Also called baiaiban 倍間判. Double the size of the *aiban 間判, or a full sheet of *kobōsho 小奉書. Approximately 33 x 47cm. Often used for *uki-e 浮絵 prints.
