The reverse arrangement of the fire-box or hearth in a tea ceremony room, or when the guest's mat *kyaku datami 客畳 is to the left side of the host's mat *temae datami 点前畳. Also called hidarigatte 左勝手. It is the reverse of *hongatte 本勝手 or migigatte 右勝手. Examples: Ihō'an 遺芳庵 in Kōdaiji 高台寺 (17th century), Kyoto; and Enju'an 延寿庵, Nara.
