A roof made of wood and cooper sheets to resemble a traditional tiled roof *hongawarabuki 本瓦葺. Hongawarabuki has broad, concave clay tiles *hiragawara 平瓦 laid first. The joints between the hiragawara are covered with semi-cylindrical tiles *marugawara 丸瓦. Honbuki, on the other hand, has semi-circular wooden battens, kawarabō 瓦棒 laid at given intervals on wooden planks or sheathing. Then the entire roof is covered with copper sheets.
