katōguchi 火灯口

Also written 花頭口, 火頭口, 華頭口. Also called *sadōguchi 茶道口 or *kyūjiguchi 給仕口. A particular type of host's entrance, usually found between the kitchen and host's mat in a tea ceremony room *chashitsu 茶室. The katōguchi does not have a door-jamb *hōdate 方立, or track *kamoi 鴨居, sliding door. The top is plastered and forms an arch shape. The headed is pasted with *hōsho 奉書 paper. Example: Seikōken 清香軒, Ishikawa Prefecture.
