Also read kenjo. The seating arrangement in the front and on both sides of the main stage in a *noh 能 theater. The audience sits behind the strip of white gravel, shirasu 白州, that borders the right, front, and left sides of the stage and along the entrance passage way, hashigakari 橋掛り. Originally, there were seats for the audience behind the musicians and chanters place jiutaiza 地謡座 on the right side of the main stage. That is rarely the case on a modern noh stage *nōbutai 能舞台.
