Also called *kake domoegawara 掛巴瓦; *ogamidomoe 拝巴; sodegawara 袖瓦; sodegatagawara 袖形瓦. Roof tiles placed along the barge course *keraba 螻羽 of a gable roof *kirizuma yane 切妻屋根 or on the gable of a hip-and-gable roof *irimoya yane 入母屋屋根. Tiles on the eave edge are called sleeve tiles, sode karakusagawara 袖唐草瓦. These terms continued to be used when roofing the barge course with pantile *sangawara 桟瓦, i.e., the tile that combines the semi-circular cover tile *marugawara 丸瓦 and the broad concave tile *hiragawara 平瓦 into one tile. This type of tile came into use during the Edo period.
