A threshhold tie beam. A penetrating tie beam placed between the sliding door track *shikii 敷居 and the veranda boards *en-ita 縁板. The thickness of the kirime nageshi is about 8/10 the height of the veranda posts. Occasionally, another beam is placed on top of the kirime nageshi. This beam is called *han-nageshi 半長押 where its thickness is only 4/10 the height of the post. Used for some shrine entrances and threshold gates.
