Also called shinkurama-ishi 新鞍馬石 and kōshūmikage-ishi 甲州御影石. A type of low quality granite quarried in modern Yamanashi Prefecture and substituted for the rarer Kurama stone *kurama-ishi 鞍馬石. Used for shoe-removing stones *kutsunugi-ishi 沓脱石 and stepping stones *tobi-ishi 飛石 in gardens.
