Tea Houses
A type of small built-in cabinet of the *mizuyadana 水屋棚 style placed in the wall of a tea ceremony room close to the host's mat *temaedatami 点前畳. It was devised to enable elderly tea masters to perform the tea ceremony with relative ease. It allowed them to reach all the tea utensils *chanoyu-no-dōgu 茶湯の道具, during the ceremony without moving from their seat on the host's mat.
