An ornamental type of *myōjin torii 明神鳥居, or gate-like entrance a Shinto shrine. It has unique, slightly curved, gable-shaped members between the tie beam *nuki 貫, and the secondary lintel *shimaki 島木. A strut gakuzuka 額束, is placed between these members. Circular plates *daiwa 台輪, are placed atop each pillar, and a single secondary lintel, square in section, stretches across and beyond the pillars. Above this is the top lintel *kasagi 笠木, pentagonal in section, extending beyond the ends of the shimaki and nuki. The tie beam extends beyond the outer face of the pillars and is secured by the usual wedges *kusabi 楔, inserted on both sides of the pillar. The pillars are placed on mound-shaped bases *kamebara 亀腹. The top lintel, circular plates, the upper, outer part of the gable-shaped members, the underside of the lower, broad gable-shaped members and the pillar bases are painted black. The rest of the torii is painted red-orange. Such colors are common for torii associated with inari jinja 稲荷神社.
