Lit. "main gable pendant." Also written 主懸魚, ogamigegyo 拝懸魚. A decorative gable pendant *gegyo 懸魚 which covers the ridgepiece at the crest of the roof gable. This expression is used in contrast to *kudarigegyo 降懸魚, a gable pendant placed over the ends of purlins to the right and left below the bargeboard. A small gable will have only the omogegyo, a larger gable will have the central omogegyo and kudarigegyo on both sides.
