1 Two interact lines, strings or rails diagonally forming a pattern of diamond shapes. Sometimes another motif is inserted inside the diamond shapes as in triple tasuki miedasuki 三重襷, or there are variations using curved lines, such as fudōtsunagi 分銅繋. See *tasukimon 襷文, *hishi 菱.
2 Also *hishigōshi 菱格子. Thin wooden strips san 桟, grillwork, faces on a gate or below a window, intersecting diagonally to form diamond shapes, or arranged in a zig-zag pattern. Either ornamental or for strengthening. A lattice formed in this way is called *tasukigōshi 襷格子. Found on genji fences *genjibei 源氏塀, *heijūmon 塀重門, cedar doors *sugido 杉戸, and bamboo-joint transoms *take-no-fushi ranma 竹の節欄間.
