Also read tachidokoro. The point where a structural timber begins to rise. For example, the place where the bottom of a bargeboard, *hafu 破風 or *chidori hafu 千鳥破風, is set and begins to ascend. If a curved roof is divided into seven equal parts, the placement of the bottom of the bargeboards would be 2/7 from the eave edge *nokisaki 軒先.
The expression tachidokoro-ga-fukai 立所が深い refers to the distance from the center of the roof to the point where the bargeboard begins to rise. If the starting point of the rise is not close to the center of the roof it is called tachidokoro-ga-asai 立所が浅い.
