Lit. "vertical post shrine fence." Also called kakutamagaki 角玉垣 (square shrine fence) or *kakugōshi tamagaki 角格子玉垣. A fence with squared and pointed pickets. The pickets are strengthened and held in place by two rows of horizontal rails at the top and bottom of the fence. Originally the character used for higo 籤 referred to small strips of split bamboo, but later it referred to square posts as well.
