Also tsunogarado 角柄戸. Lit. "rectangular door." A type of wicket *kido 木戸 used to divide the inner tea garden *uchiroji 内露地 from the outer tea garden *sotoroji 外露地. It is similar to the *sarudo 猿戸, but differs mainly in that it is secured with a hook rather than a latch or bar. Also tsunodo tend to be narrower and lower than sarudo, and often the wooden lattice protrudes from the upper and lower frames.
The term tsunogaramado 角柄窓 also refers to a type of boarded door in which the upper frame extends over the post. Tsunogaramado are also used as a kind of hangdoor outside of the *shitajimado 下地窓 in *chashitsu 茶室. There is a related type of *shōji 障子 called tsunogara shōji 角柄障子.
