Also written 吊壁. A narrow wall suspended from a ceiling to form the front and side of a boundary for an alcove set in the corner of a tearoom. Such an alcove *tsuridoko 釣床 has no other structural demarcations to set it apart from the rest of the room, but does not have a hanging scroll or fan for decoration. The tsuribake has hanging struts tsurizuka 吊束 where its two parts join the wall and the outer corner. A slender piece of horizontal trim *otoshigake 落掛 is stretched along the bottom between the two hanging struts tsurizuka.
