1 The inside measurement between the inner sides of two posts or pillars *hashira 柱, door or window frames, or opposite walls in a square or rectangular room.

2 The distance between the threshhold *shikii 敷居 and the underside of the head jamb *kamoi 鴨居 of a door frame.

3 The opposite of uchinori is *sotonori 外法. Sotonori means the distance between the exterior measurements of circular, rectangular or square from the outside of the posts, or the exterior opposite sides of square or rectangular structures. See *uchinorizai 内法材.
