1 Also *watabana 綿花, *gyakuren 逆蓮, kaikaren 開花蓮. A molding *kurigata 繰形, thought to resemble a silk-floss bundle tied at the centre yuiwata, or an upside-down lotus blossom gyakuren. Carved on bargeboard pendants *gegyo 懸魚, railings *kōran 高欄, rainbow beams *kōryō 虹梁, newel posts oyabashira 親柱 or at the lower edge of a large bottle-shaped post *taiheizuka 大瓶束.

2 A family crest mondokoro 紋所, in the shape of a silk-floss bundle tied at the centre. Bundles of this kind were originally used as congratulatory gifts.
