The Sainte Chapelle was built on the Ile-de-la-Cite in Paris between 1243-1248 to house Christ's Crown of Thorns whch King Louis IX purchased from the Byzantine emperor. It is divided into a lower chapel and an upper chapel. The upper chapel is composed almost entirely of stained glass.
