Chapel of Saint Louis (now Notre Dame de la Paix)

1297 and 1302

Canonization of Saint Louis took place on 11 August 1297: many chapels were dedicated to him soon afterwards. Bishop Guillaume de Macon's 1302 foundation charter: Capellano autem in dicta capellania instiutuendo capellam novam quam in honore beati Ludovici edificari fecimus ad deserviendum in ea specialiter assignamus. Another chaplaincy was established 1305 in the testament of Jean Darc, citizen of Amiens. Guillaume de Macon, chaplain for Louis IX, had been present at his death in Tunis. He played an important role in the king's canonization.
