Also called Aouma-no-jin 白馬の陣. The front gate located near the center of the outer south earthen wall surrounding Kyoto Gosho 京都御所, where it would have been in line with the Shishinden 紫宸殿 and the *Jōmeimon 承明門. It is a 4-legged gate *shikyakumon 四脚門, with a gable roof *kirizuma yane 切妻屋根, covered with cypress bark *hiwadabuki 桧皮葺. Base stones called karaishiki 唐居敷 are placed under the main round pillars and ordinary base stones are set under the square secondary posts. Purlins *keta 桁 are positioned over the main pillars. A bracket complex *tokyō 斗きょう and one openwork frog-leg strut *kaerumata 蟇股 are placed at the center of the purlin. Other bracket complexes are placed on top of the central complex to support the ridge *munagi 棟木. Rainbow beams *kōryō 虹梁, with two open work frog leg struts, are placed at the front of the secondary posts and carry the eave purlin nokigeta 軒桁 (see *gagyō 丸桁). The ceiling is exposed *keshō yaneura tenjō 化粧屋根裏天井. The main pillars and secondary posts are connected by lintels and the upper parts between the beams are adorned with flower patterns. The elegant, double-paneled doors are of the swinging type *sangarado 桟唐戸 and are dated 1855.
