The roof sheathing laid over rafters which is visible from under the eaves of an open-beamed ceiling. One such example is found in the aisles *hisashi 廂 surrounding the one to four sides of the core *moya 母屋 a pent roof enclosure *mokoshi 裳階 surrounding the hisashi veranda, or in any timber structure open to the underside of the roof. The term nōra-ita 野裏板 (see *noji-ita 野地板) means the hidden rafters with in the hidden roof structure *noyane 野屋根.
