Also pronounced magamibashira. Also called *yugamibashira 歪柱. Lit. a bent, crooked or curved post.
1 Any post in a tea ceremony structure, but often refers to the middle post in a tea ceremony structure, also called wakibashira 脇柱. For example, the side walls, those in the tea kitchen *mizuya 水屋, and posts called sutebashira 捨柱 which support long extended eaves *tsuchibisashi 土廂, may also be classified as magaribashira. Magaribashira are often inserted into the ground.
